Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
This policy applies to transport services provided by Remi Haulage Ltd, including the movement of cabins, welfare units, containers, wide loads, long loads and other specialist or abnormal loads. It forms part of our quotation and booking terms. Where applicable, services are also provided subject to the RHA Conditions of Carriage 2026.
1. Confirmed bookings
A booking is confirmed when the customer accepts our quotation by email, message or other written communication and we confirm the transport date. We may require a deposit or advance payment to reserve a vehicle, driver, trailer, route-planning time or third-party service.
2. How to cancel or reschedule
Please contact us as soon as possible by email at office@remihaulage.co.uk or telephone on 07891 905 856. A telephone cancellation should also be confirmed in writing. Notice received outside normal operating hours will be treated as received on the next working day.
3. Cancellation charges
Cancellation charges reflect the time reserved, work already completed, commitments made to third parties and the likelihood of replacing the booking. Unless different terms are agreed in the quotation, the following charges may apply:
- More than 7 clear days before collection: no vehicle or driver charge. Reasonable non-recoverable costs already incurred specifically for the job remain payable.
- Between 3 and 7 clear days: up to 25% of the agreed transport charge, plus reasonable non-recoverable third-party costs.
- Between 24 and 72 hours: up to 50% of the agreed transport charge, plus reasonable non-recoverable third-party costs.
- Less than 24 hours: up to 100% of the agreed transport charge where the vehicle, driver or specialist equipment cannot reasonably be reassigned, plus non-recoverable third-party costs.
- After dispatch: up to 100% of the agreed price, together with applicable waiting time, additional mileage and third-party costs.
4. Aborted collection or delivery
A booking may be treated as a late cancellation or aborted journey where the load is not ready, the dimensions or weight differ materially from the information supplied, the load cannot be transported safely, suitable loading equipment is unavailable, site access is unsafe or unsuitable, the site contact is unavailable, required permissions are missing, or loading would breach legal, safety or operating requirements.
In these circumstances, the agreed transport charge, waiting time, additional mileage and third-party costs may remain payable.
5. Incorrect load information
Quotations and transport plans rely on accurate collection and delivery addresses, overall dimensions and weight, load type, lifting requirements, access restrictions and photographs where requested. If incomplete or incorrect information requires different equipment, routing, permits, escorts or lifting arrangements, the quotation may be revised. If the movement cannot proceed safely or legally, it may be treated as an aborted collection.
6. Specialist planning and external costs
Specialist movements may require route planning, authority notifications, permits, escorts, HIAB or crane services, ferry or toll bookings, subcontracted vehicles or specialist equipment. Once ordered or completed, reasonable non-recoverable costs may remain payable even if the booking is cancelled.
7. Rescheduling
We will make reasonable efforts to move a booking to another available date. Where more than 72 hours’ notice is provided, we may transfer the booking or deposit once without an administration charge, provided no significant costs or losses have already been incurred. Requests within 72 hours may be treated as a cancellation and new booking. A replacement date is not confirmed until accepted by Remi Haulage Ltd in writing.
8. Reduction of cancellation charges
We will take reasonable steps to reduce our loss. If we can use the cancelled vehicle, driver or equipment for another job, the cancellation charge will be reviewed and may be reduced. Charges will not exceed the reasonable loss arising directly from the cancellation together with unavoidable third-party costs.
9. Cancellation by Remi Haulage Ltd
We may cancel or postpone a movement that cannot be completed safely or legally because of severe weather, vehicle breakdown, road closures, authority restrictions, inaccurate load information, unsafe loading arrangements, driver illness or circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where we cancel and cannot offer a suitable replacement date, payments for services not provided will normally be refunded. We will not charge a cancellation fee where cancellation is caused solely by Remi Haulage Ltd.
10. Delays outside our control
Collection and delivery times are estimates unless expressly guaranteed in writing. We are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, accidents, road closures, severe weather, authority instructions, site delays or restrictions affecting abnormal-load movements. We will keep the customer informed and make reasonable efforts to complete the movement or agree an alternative arrangement.
11. Deposits and refunds
Any deposit will be credited against the final invoice. Where a refund is due, it will normally be processed within 14 days after the cancellation amount and properly incurred costs have been confirmed. A deposit will not automatically be retained in full; any retained amount will reflect reasonable losses and non-recoverable costs.
12. Consumer rights
Nothing in this policy affects a customer’s statutory rights. Different cancellation rights may apply where the customer acts as a consumer. Certain transport-of-goods services booked for a specific date or period may be excluded from the general cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Where a statutory cancellation right applies, it takes priority over this policy.
13. Agreement
By confirming a booking, the customer confirms that they have read and accepted this Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy together with the quotation and any other applicable terms.
